Festiva Adventure Club External Exchanges
Festiva Adventure Club (FAC) members enjoy the privilege of having access to Festiva Hospitality Group’s impressive family of 27 resorts located in some of the most sought after destinations in the United States and Caribbean. One exciting benefit of the Adventure Club membership is the ability to explore outside of the Festiva family of resorts by using points to exchange a week with Interval International. This benefit makes an endless array of vacation destinations from around the world accessible to Club members.
Interval International, with a network of more than 2,500 resorts in over 75 nations, is a leading provider of vacation services. With all FAC members receiving a complimentary one year membership, making your dream vacation a reality is only a few short steps away.
- Consult the Interval International Resort Directory and decide where you would like to go. It is recommended that you select at least 3 different resorts and one travel date, or one specific resort with at least 3 travel dates. Keep in mind the more flexible you can be as to where and when you can travel the more likely you are to get a reservation.
- Take note of the Travel Demand Index (TDI) number that is assigned to the weeks and resorts you are requesting. TDI charts are located inside the Interval International Resort Directory with ratings between 50-150. Also have available your Interval International account number and the unit size required for your stay.
- Contact Festiva’s Central Reservations at 1.866.933.7848 or email us at centralreservations@festiva.travel. With the TDI and unit size Festiva’s experienced Reservation Specialists will be able to determine the color season and total number of points for your deposit.
- Once you receive a confirmation of a deposit number from Festiva, contact Interval International to request a reservation. Interval does charge an exchange fee once you place your reservation request. The fee will vary depending on whether your destination is domestic or international. Upon confirmation of your reservation you will receive details on the resort and destination from Interval.

Determining Travel Demand Index (TDI)
Interval International’s TDI system – based on several factors including resort quality, sleeping capacity, and supply and demand – is designed to ensure a fair exchange wherever you travel. The index ranges from 50-150 with 100 representing the average inbound leisure and travel demand. The higher the figure is above 100, the greater the demand is for that specific week in the area. Numbers below 100 indicate periods of time when it may be easier to secure an exchange. Therefore a week at a particular resort location with a TDI
of 135 would be considered to be within peak travel season while a week with a TDI of 70 would be in the off-season. It is suggested that the higher the TDI the further out you should deposit your week with Interval. Adventure Club members can deposit 12 months in advance as long as maintenance fees are current.
Knowing the TDI for the requested destination is crucial for a few reasons. Having the TDI readily available when contacting the Festiva Central Reservations office will expedite the deposit process and more importantly assist the Reservation Specialist in finding a week to deposit with a comparable TDI. To determine the TDI, find your desired resort(s) in the Interval International Resort Directory or online. Next to the resort listing on the right hand side of the website there will be a link labeled “Travel Demand Index.” In the resort catalogue, below each listing, there will be a small gray box with a number inside. This number tells you which TDI chart to address at the beginning of each regional chapter. Once you find the TDI chart that coincides with your resort, simply find the week number that matches your travel dates and the chart will tell you the TDI. To find the week number assigned to your desired dates consult a “unit weeks calendar,” which can be found on either Festiva’s or Interval International’s websites or in the resort directories.
Flexchange / Cruises
Traveling on short notice? Any time the check in date for the requested week is within 59 days from the deposit date you will need to request a Flexchange. This is Interval’s way of filling unused inventory at the last minute and can benefit FAC members greatly. If you are flexible and able to travel within 59 days notice or less, you can request a Flexchange, which only requires 1800 points. By traveling on short notice with Flexchange FAC members can maximize their vacation time. Festiva Adventure Club members can also use points towards deposits for discounts on cruises as long you upgrade your Interval International membership to the Gold level. Consult an Interval Gold Concierge Representative for details.
For additional information on exchanging or using your Festiva Adventure Club membership be sure to reference the member directory, visit us online at www.festiva.travel or contact our Owner Services department toll-free at 1.866.933.7848 or e-mail ownerservices@festiva.travel.

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum
Sitting at the mouth of the Cooper River on Charleston Harbour in Mount Pleasant, S.C., is Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. Opened in 1976 Patriots Point is now one of the largest museums of its kind, featuring naval ships, submarines, aircraft and an array of displays from World War II, Vietnam, the Cold War and Desert Storm.
Originally commissioned in 1943, the USS Yorktown was the tenth aircraft carrier built and used by the United States Navy and currently is the main attraction at Patriots Point. The historic aircraft carrier first saw action in the Pacific during World War II and served up until 1970 before finding a resting place in Charleston Harbour. During her time at sea the USS Yorktown earned 16 battle stars and received the Presidential Unit Citation. After being retired from battle the Yorktown spent time being featured in movies and even recovered the Apollo 8 capsule in 1968 upon its return to earth.
Visitors can tour the historic 888 foot-long vessel and see how seamen lived and fought on the
impressive ship throughout her decades of service. While aboard be sure to explore the ship’s flight deck and hanger bay where 24 different fighter jets, bombers and helicopters are on display. Each of the aircraft on display has played a part in the storied history of the carrier. Also located aboard the USS Yorktown is the Congressional Medal of Honor Museum. This national museum features exhibits that explain the history behind the United States’ most distinguished award and the brave Americans who have been awarded the medal.
In addition to the USS Yorktown, Patriots Point is home to the USS Clamagore, a 322 foot submarine used for 30 years during the Cold War. The vessel is part of the Cold War Submarine Memorial which provides visitors the opportunity to experience life inside the tight quarters of a historic submarine while learning the history of these vessels and the vital role they played in the Cold War. The USS Clamagore is the only remaining submarine of its type in the United States and has been stationed at Patriots Point since 1981.
Another popular attraction is the Vietnam Naval Support Base Camp Replica. The true-to-scale exhibit includes a rare Mark 1 Patrol Boat and numerous helicopters including the famous UH-1m Huey gunship, all of which were used to patrol the Mekong Delta. The base is the only Vietnam Replica of its kind in the United States and takes visitors back in time to experience the life of a soldier during Vietnam.
Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum also offers a variety of educational programs for schools, group tours and camping. For more information on special programs and ticket pricing for the park contact Patriots Point toll-free at 866-831-1720. For lodging information check out Festiva Hospitality Group’s Church Street Inn located across the harbour in historic downtown Charleston.
Owners’ Sources of Information
With lengthy contracts, reservation guidelines and a cornucopia of rules and regulations, timeshare owners can quite often feel confused, perplexed and frustrated. Whether you are a points owner with the Festiva Adventure Club or a weeks owner at one of Festiva Hospitality Group’s many resorts there are two key sources for finding the answer to your questions no matter how simple or complex they might be. Utilizing the Owner Services Department and the Festiva Hospitality Group website can save owners a lot of time and stress.
Festiva’s Owner Services Department is compiled of a group of highly trained customer service experts who are capable of booking reservations and answering any question you may have pertaining to your ownership or any of our 27 resorts. All representatives are familiar with each resort and their amenities as well as the content of each contract. After dialing in owners will have the option to book a reservation, speak to an Owner Services Representative or make a maintenance fee payment through an automated system. If all lines are busy and there is a wait time owners will have the luxury of entering in their phone number, hang up, and go about their daily business. The phone system will hold your place in line and automatically return the call. To avoid wait times and ensure a quick connection owners can call from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. or 3 p.m. – 4 p.m., the 2 hours of the day with typically the lowest call volume. The Owner Services Department can be reached toll-free at 866-933-7848, Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday – Saturday 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
The Festiva website is also a very vital source of information. Some owners prefer to steer clear of phones and find it easier to look up information online at their own convenience. Once logged in to
either the Adventure Club or Owners portion of the website you will notice a menu listed on the right-hand side of the page. From this menu owners can submit a reservation request, email in any questions to Owner Services and pay maintenance fees. Also under the menu are other helpful sections such as Frequently Asked Questions, Understanding Your Membership and Rules & Regulations, each of which will help owners further understand the intricacies of their ownership.
The Festiva website also includes a detailed listing on each of the 27 resorts. Each resort listing contains a calendar of events in the area along with photographs and a list of resort amenities. The majority of the resorts even have virtual tours that allow you to take control of the camera and explore the resort property. Resort policies pertaining to smoking, pets, parking and check-in and check-out times can also be found under each resort listing.
For the answers to your questions please contact the Owner Services Department by calling 888-933-7848 or emailing at ownerservices@festiva.travel. You can also visit Festiva Hospitality Group online at www.festiva.travel.

How to Get the Week You Want
One of the worst things for a timeshare owner to hear is there is no availability left for the exact dates they want at their resort. This will often leave owners upset and hustling to change travel plans, often adding unnecessary stress. By understanding what you own and following a few simple tips owners can avoid the disappointment associated with not being able to book the week they want.
Know What You Own- First and foremost it is vital for an owner to understand what they have purchased and how to use their week interval. After sitting through a lengthy sales presentation and making the decision to purchase new owners find themselves signing a contract multiple times, quite often not fully understanding the actual content of the contract. Take the time to review the rules that
your timeshare company has set forth in the contract or rules and regulations for booking. Check for the type of week owned; fixed or float, as well as the frequency of the usage; annual or biennial. Float week owners should be aware of the color season in which they own. Float weeks are typically associated with a color season based on the demand for that resort’s destination during a specific time of year. By understanding exactly what was purchased an owner can book according to their allotted time frame and avoid disappointment.
Plan Ahead- All reservations are based upon availability and first-come, first-serve basis and therefore the best way to guarantee you get what you want is to plan ahead. To avoid being shut out due to availability owners can prepay their maintenance fees for the upcoming usage year and book a reservation a full 12 – 24 months in advance depending on the resort. Those who chose to deposit their week with Interval International can also deposit 12 months in advance. Keep in mind that by depositing this far in advance you will profoundly increase the odds of securing the exact accommodations you’re looking for when exchanging with Interval International.
Be Wary of Events- Each year certain destinations hold events that lure in large crowds and make booking an accommodation more difficult. For example the city of Charleston, S.C., home of the Church Street Inn, host a 17 day arts festival called Spoleto during late May and early June. With the influx of visitors to the area everything becomes crowded, from the streets to the restaurants. If trying to avoid crowds one would definitely not want to be caught in Charleston during Spoleto. Each
year Myrtle Beach, S.C. holds what has become known as Bike Week during the month of May. If making plans during this time to travel to Ellington at Wachesaw Plantation it would be helpful to know the exact dates of the event if trying to avoid the massive number of bikers that take over the city for a 10 day span. The last thing an owner wants is to hear the endless rumble of motorcycle engines for a week when trying to relax. The best way to avoid unwanted crowds is by checking local area’s calendar of events. These can typically be found on the websites of local Chambers of Commerce and Convention and Visitor Bureaus. By staying in tune with a destinations events owners will be able to plan accordingly. We keep our Festiva resort websites updated with upcoming area events.
When booking you next vacation week be sure to know what you own, plan ahead and be wary of local events in an area. This will help ensure as an owner you are able to get the week you want, and more importantly the perfect vacation experience. For more information on booking contact Festiva Hospitality’s Central Reservations office at 1-866-933-7848.

Festiva Adventure Club: Tips on Using Points
In the timeshare industry a trend in recent years has ownership moving from a deeded week to a right-to-use points based program. The Festiva Adventure Club (FAC) is a points based vacation ownership that provides members more flexibility when planning a vacation. The concept is that points owners are able to determine the resort, unit size and length of stay. Of course with the added benefits of points based ownership booking a vacation is quite different than that of a weeks ownership. Since reservations are always based upon availability, having an understanding of the reservations process will help members maximize their points and ensure a smooth booking experience. Here are a few things to think about when planning your next vacation with the Adventure Club.
When booking keep in mind that all reservations are based on availability and a first-come, first-served basis. The best option for booking a full week during peak red and gold season and guaranteeing you get the reservation you want is by prepaying your maintenance fees 12 months prior to your requested check in date. This will provide members the opportunity to book a full year in advance.
Anytime FAC members book last minute they can take advantage of the Late Reservation rate. Any booking made within 29 days or less of the check in date will be charged the lowest points value for the same stay length at the resort
regardless of the color season. For example, a full week at Ellington during the gold season for a one bedroom is 3,800 points. If rooms are still available an owner can call in and book any unit size for a full week at 1,900 points within the 29 day window. Late reservation rates are available year round and are utilized most by members in the slower seasons. With the average 7 night stay for late reservations around 1,900-2,400 points this is the perfect way to maximize points and enjoy more time on vacation.
When looking to book for either a 3-night weekend or 4-night midweek reservation keep in mind that they can only be confirmed 45 days or less prior to check in. Since weekends are always more highly demanded than weekdays the points rate for the 3 night stay will always be slightly higher than the midweek. A good way to get more nights, avoid larger crowds and save points is by booking a midweek reservation, which normally runs Sunday through Thursday.
If you do not currently have enough points for your Festiva Adventure Club reservation, do not worry for there are two options for adding additional points to your account. Members can purchase up to 25 percent of their annual
allotment of points to complete a reservation at 20 cents per point as long as they are within 120 days of the arrival date. For example, a member needing 2,500 points that only has 2,000 annual points will be able to purchase the additional 500 points for a total of $100. Another way of adding points to an account is through acceleration. Acceleration permits the club member to pay the current year’s maintenance fee and pull the entire contracted points amount from the end of the 40 year allotment of points.
If there are unused points remaining from the current years allotment or acceleration then members can defer, or roll over the points no later than December 15th by contacting Central Reservations or Owner Services.
Another way to save points is by booking Adventure Club specials. As the year progresses more members join the club providing the opportunity to add additional weeks to the available inventory. As opposed to letting this inventory remain unbooked management will offer points discounts on this inventory as an added benefit to FAC owners. This year alone 200 weeks were booked at 1900 points each at the special rate. Members are made aware of these specials via email so be sure that we have your email address on file so you do not miss out on these offers.
For additional information on using you Festiva Adventure Club membership be sure to reference your owner’s manual or contact our Owner Services Department toll-free at 1-866-933-7848 or email ownerservices@festiva.travel.

Festiva family vacations
If you’re ready for the snow to melt, you don’t have to wait long because spring and summer are just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about those annual family vacations! Some of the Festiva Adventure Club’s most popular destinations to take the kids during their school breaks are Orlando, Myrtle Beach, Atlantic Beach and St. Augustine.
Sometimes it can be difficult coordinating trips when you have children ranging from the ages of six to sixteen. Fortunately, with the Festiva Adventure Club there are enough resorts and destination options to please the entire family.
When traveling with the family it is very important to look for destinations that have tons of variety. According to the Travel Channel’s Travel Tips: Family Vacations, one of the biggest issues when traveling with young ones is their impatience. Children have shorter attention spans than adults and want to venture to different attractions without lingering too long at any one.
Orlando is perhaps the most famous family vacation destination in the country, and Festiva’s Blue Heron Beach Resort is perfect for all ages. Reviews from Tripadvisor guests rank the resort very highly among Orlando accommodations. Luckily the Blue Heron is located just down the street from Disney World where guests are close enough to the theme parks to take in as much action as they wish; and with spacious units including fully equipped kitchens, families can save a bundle by cooking meals at the resort and doing laundry during their trip. The location and amenities make this resort perfect for young ones, grandparents and honeymooners alike. In addition to the fun and entertainment of the theme parks, there are over thirty golf courses in the area an endless amount of restaurants.
For a family-friendly vacation on the Carolina Coast, both Myrtle Beach and Atlantic Beach are great places for all age groups and interests. There are seven Festiva Adventure Club resorts in the Myrtle Beach area varying in location, size and amenities. Whether you’re looking for a quiet beachfront vacation focusing on plenty of quality time with the family, or a more sociable resort with a busy activities department to take the kids off your hands for a few hours, Festiva’s Myrtle Beach resorts have something for everyone.
At Peppertree Atlantic Beach, your condo is steps away from laid back beach on North Carolina’s Crystal Coast. While the town itself is a bit quieter than Myrtle Beach, there are plenty of family activities in the area and right on the property. There are three pools (one indoor), tennis courts, basketball courts and a playground along with a recreation room and weekly planned activities to enjoy as a family or to keep your kids busy while you enjoy a relaxing stroll on the beach.
One of our newest properties, Ocean Gate at Hibiscus Resort in St. Augustine, Fla., is another great destination for that spring or summer vacation your family may be looking for. Come enjoy the great weather, history, clubs and restaurants in one of the most historic cities in the country.
The most important tip to remember when traveling with family is planning ahead, so start thinking about which fabulous Festiva Adventure Club destination you want to take your family to during their spring and summer breaks in 2011. If you have already planned your Festiva family vacation for 2010, let us know where you will go and what you to make the most out of your trip.
